The Orthopaedic Oncology department at MD Anderson, led by Valerae O. Lewis, M.D., offers treatment for children and adults with musculoskeletal tumors. We specialize in the management of patients with benign tumors, malignant tumors, bone and soft tissue tumors and bone metastases. We also manage the orthopaedic problems of oncologic patients who may require specialized, multidisciplinary care in a comprehensive cancer center. Such problems include fractures, arthritis, avascular necrosis, and osteoporosis.
