#balrakshabharat #hindistories Child Marriage is a major contributor of inequality in India. It leads to major health risks for girls and newborns. Almost 1 in 3 girls in India gets married before turning 18. It leads to major violations of women rights and child rights. To tackle this problem, embedded deep in a large part of Indian society, Save the Children implemented a 5 year holistic project called – Marriage: No Child’s Play – Ananya in 251 villages across 6 development blocks of 6 districts in 3 states of India – Bihar, Rajasthan and Odisha, in partnership with local civil society organizations targeting around 35000 (girls-29000 and boys-6000) adolescents (10-19 years) What happens when each one of us takes a stand for the sake of girls and their safety? The Society moves towards fairness and equality. It's this tough stand which empowers girls and drives real change! Today, on National Girl Child Day 2021. Childline Helpline number to report Child Marriage in India: 1098 In India, under The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 - a child has been defined as a person who, if a male, has not completed twenty-one years of age, and if a female, has not completed eighteen years of age. This act also declares that any marriage solemnised between children below the legal age limit is null and void. The act also provides punishments for various offences for allowing or conducting child marriages between minors or marrying minors with adults. Despite this, child marriage is still widespread across the nation. States like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh still have average age of marriage below the legal age of eighteen for females. States where child marriage is most prevalent are also those who have a high population. Child marriage in India has grave implications for population control as adolescent brides are likely to have high fertility and a number of unwanted pregnancies. #childmarriage #stopchildmarriageinindia #NationalGirlChildDay2021 #savethechildren #allyupforher For more information: Website: https://www.savethechildren.in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/india.savethechildren Twitter: https://twitter.com/stc_india Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/savethechildren_india/ For more follow Bal Raksha Bharat :- 👉 https://www.facebook.com/balrakshabharat 👉 https://www.instagram.com/balrakshabharat/ 👉 https://twitter.com/balrakshabharat 👉 https://www.linkedin.com/company/bal-rakshabharat/ 👉 https://www.youtube.com/@balrakshabharat Sharing is caring : - 🤏❤️ 👉 https://balrakshabharat.org/donate/ Become a supporter : - 🤝 👉https://balrakshabharat.org/Volunteer/
